About the Artist
From my first adventures as a young boy catching sticklebacks on the local boating lake I have been spellbound by fish and their environment.
Like many young anglers I progressed from sticklebacks to gudgeon and small perch, spending every hour I could by the waterside. My love of angling continued into my adolescence and when I couldn't fish I either read about fishing, made my own floats or drew pictures of my favourite species. My head swam with visions of the underwater world long before I was able to snorkel or dive.
In my early twenties I took to my local rivers and lakes with a mask and snorkel and finally entered the fishes world for real and it was just like swimming into my childhood imagination. I eventually progressed to scuba and am now happiest face to face with fish, whether it's in my local salmon rivers, on a Pembrokeshire reef or the Flats of Cuba.
I was lucky enough to have my first book published in 2008 (Beneath the Surface) and have featured in many magazine articles, both nationally and internationally, including Trout & Salmon, Angler's Mail, Angling Times, Sea Angler and The Field.
My paintings have also featured on the Environment Agency Rod Licence in the UK, from its inception in 2008 until the present day. I have also been commissioned by both Royal Mail and Canada Post to produce a series of stamps - on the themes of threatened and sustainable marine fish and endangered whales.
