Advice on Framing

ADVICE ON FRAMING PRINTS

Please note that our prints do not fit a standard frame. The size displayed in inches on each page is approximate only and should not be used as a guide to framing sizes. These are currently being phased out and replaced by the paper size that each image is printed on. Hopefully this will be a simpler system once it is completed.  I am currently in the process of adding exact measurements on our mounted prints, in mm, throughout our range. If you are interested in a print which currently does not display these sizes in mm please get in touch.

IMAGE SIZE vs FRAMING SIZE

The image size displayed is the actual size of the printed picture on the paper and does not include the signature strip or the paper it is printed on. If you are planning to frame your print without a mount please take this into consideration. If you do prefer to frame without a mount -then you will need to use the paper size, not the image size - these will be either:

A4 - 210 x 297mm

A3 - 297 x 420mm

A2 - 420 x 594mm

(Example of a mounted print with a 10mm signature strip)

Some prints, particularly those with a long, thin, or a square format do have a larger proportion of white paper (please note, this advice is only if you plan to frame an unmounted print. Mounted prints are 'ready to frame' whatever the format they are printed in). You may want to cut these down before framing. If this is the case it is advisable that you order your frames after you have received your prints and measure accordingly.

FRAMING

You can either take your print to a high-street framer who offers bespoke frames, or enter the dimensions into one of the many on-line framers that are now available. There is a handy list on our contacts page.

They offer a huge range at very reasonable prices and usually have a quick turnaround time.
